Connect LinkedIn with the Companion app
Install the Companion app, link your LinkedIn account to a space and check that it stays connected.
Why you need the Companion app
Atomic BI never stores your LinkedIn login. Instead, the Companion app runs on your computer, holds your LinkedIn session and does the LinkedIn work on your behalf: syncing profiles, reading your inbox and sending messages. This keeps your credentials on your own machine.
Because of this, anything that touches LinkedIn only runs while your Companion app is running and connected.
Install the Companion app
The Companion app is available for:
- Mac: from the Apple App Store.
- Windows: from the Microsoft Store.
Both links are shown on the Connect LinkedIn Account page inside Atomic BI.
Connect your LinkedIn account
- Open your space and go to Settings, then LinkedIn Accounts.
- Click Connect LinkedIn. You land on a Connect LinkedIn Account page that says "Companion App required".
- Click Open Companion App. Your Companion app opens with your space selected.
- Follow the prompts in the Companion app to sign in to LinkedIn.
- Back in Atomic BI, open Settings, then LinkedIn Accounts and click your account. You should see a green CONNECTED message: "Your LinkedIn Account is currently connected with your Companion App."
You can also start from the campaign setup page: next to Sending account, click Add account. The button reads "Waiting for your Companion App" until the connection completes.
During guided setup, the Companion step asks you to install the app, click the button to connect your LinkedIn Sales Navigator account, then confirm the account.
Check the connection status
On any campaign page, the round power button in the top bar is green when your Companion app is connected and red when it is not. Clicking it opens your Companion app. On a LinkedIn account's page in Settings you will see either CONNECTED or DISCONNECTED.
If you are not connected, actions such as sending a message, importing leads or syncing replies tell you to "connect your LinkedIn account with your Companion App". Start the Companion app and try again.
Rename an account and see its profile
Open Settings, then LinkedIn Accounts, click the account and change Connection Name. Click Save Changes. The Profile Summary on the same page shows the LinkedIn profile Atomic BI sees.
Choose what runs automatically
Each LinkedIn account has its own automation switches on the same page. Turn on only what you want. Groups are Warmup Automation (Auto Connect, Auto Enrich), Draft Automation (Auto Draft, Auto Schedule, Auto Send), Follow-Up Automation (Auto Draft Follow-Up, Auto Send Follow-Up), Inbox Automation (Auto Sync) and Withdraw Automation (Auto Withdraw). Details are in Review, schedule and send messages and Lead stages, replies and follow-ups.
Good to know
- Automatic work only runs while your Companion app is online.
- Replies are checked automatically every 15 minutes while you are connected. The refresh button in the campaign top bar ("Get latest messages from linkedin") pulls new replies right away, and can be used about every 5 minutes.
- Sending limits and InMail credits are LinkedIn's. See the FAQ on InMail credits.
