Use Atomic BI from Claude or other AI tools (MCP)

Connect Claude, Claude Code, Cursor or another MCP client to your space and control what it may do.

What this is

Atomic BI has an MCP server. MCP (Model Context Protocol) is a standard way for AI tools to work with other products. Once connected, a tool such as Claude can look up your campaigns and leads, read your knowledge base and, if you allow it, take actions in your space.

This is aimed at technical users. Each space has its own server address, so you can connect several spaces side by side.

Before you start

  • The MCP server is a beta feature. If you open Settings, then MCP Server and see "Beta feature ... not yet available for your space", it is not switched on for you. Contact Atomic BI to request access.
  • You must be a space owner to connect a tool or manage keys. Others will be asked to ask an owner.

Find your server address

Open Settings, then MCP Server. The address for the space appears at the top of the page and can be copied. It looks like https://mcp.atomic.bi/s/<your space id>. The page has three tabs: MCP Setup, API Keys and Tool Explorer.

Connect Claude

  1. On the MCP Setup tab, choose Claude and click Connect to Claude.
  2. Claude opens in a new tab with the connector filled in. Review the name and address, then click Add. Claude warns that the connector came from a link, which is expected.
  3. Claude sends you back to Atomic BI. Sign in and approve the connection. You do not need an API key; the connection creates its own.
  4. To connect another space, repeat these steps from that space's MCP settings. Each space is a separate connector.

Prefer to do it by hand? Copy the server address into Claude under Settings, then Connectors, then Add custom connector.

Connect Claude Code

  1. On MCP Setup, choose Claude Code and copy the command. It looks like claude mcp add --transport http "<name>" <your server address>.
  2. Run it in your terminal. Claude Code opens your browser so you can sign in and approve.
  3. In Claude Code, run /mcp to confirm the server is connected.

Connect Cursor, Windsurf or others

For these, use an API key. On the MCP Setup tab choose your tool, follow the steps shown and paste the configuration, which includes your key. Restart the tool afterwards.

Choose what a connection may do

On the approval screen (shown when you connect with Claude or Claude Code) you choose the key the tool will use, or create a new one. The options are:

  • Full access: every tool, read and write.
  • Read only: every tool, but nothing that writes.
  • Outreach: leads, campaigns and messaging.
  • Reporting: read-only reporting tools.

Click the Allow button, which carries your tool's name, to approve. The note on the page explains you can revoke access any time by disabling or deleting the key in Settings, MCP.

Manage API keys

Open the API Keys tab to see your keys, what each may do, when it was last used and whether it is enabled. Owners can:

  • Click Create API Key and choose a preset (Full access, Read only, Reporting, Outreach agent or Custom).
  • Show or copy a key.
  • Edit a key. Connected tools pick up the change the next time they connect.
  • Disable, enable or delete a key. Deleting a key cuts off every tool using it right away.

Treat keys like passwords.

Try the tools

The Tool Explorer tab lists the tools a key can use and lets you run them, which is handy for checking what a key allows.

Good to know

  • AI tools can change real data if you give them write access. Start with Read only if you are unsure.
  • Some things are deliberately not available to AI tools, such as managing integrations and API keys.
