Create your first campaign
Set up a campaign, let the AI write its playbook and bring in your first leads.
What a campaign is
A campaign is one outreach program. It ties together a LinkedIn account to send from, an AI model, a playbook that sets how messages are written, and the leads you want to reach. You watch it on a board where each lead sits in a column for its stage.
Before you start, connect your LinkedIn account and, if you can, add some company knowledge, because the AI uses it when it writes.
Create the campaign
- In the left sidebar open Outreach, then All Campaigns.
- Start a new campaign. You land on Let's plan your Campaign!
- Under Sending account, pick the LinkedIn account that every message in this campaign will go out from. No account yet? Click Add account.
- Under Campaign, fill in:
- Campaign name
- Goals: click Add goals and pick one or more.
- Tone: click Add tone and pick one or more.
- Description: between 100 and 1000 characters. Say which markets or countries you want to reach, which roles or industries, and what you are offering them.
- Under Assets and leads, add links your messages can share, such as a meeting link or a deck. Choose a type, then paste the URL. You can also choose a Lead finder profile here (see Find leads with AI). It is fine to leave it on "No profile".
- Under Settings, pick the AI model.
- Click Continue.
The playbook is written for you
After you click Continue, a window titled "Please wait while we are preparing your playbook" shows the AI writing your campaign playbook section by section. When it finishes, click Continue to open your campaign board.
If you would rather write the playbook yourself later, tick Skip AI playbook generation under Settings before you click Continue. The campaign is created right away. To learn what is in a playbook, see Playbooks and how message drafts are written.
Add leads
On the campaign board, click Add Leads. You get three choices:
- Find leads with AI: the assistant searches Sales Navigator using your Lead Finder profile, judges each person and imports the good fits. Needs your Companion app to be running and the assistant to be available in your space.
- Sales Navigator list: pick one of your saved lead lists, preview it and choose who to import.
- Profile URLs: paste LinkedIn profile links, one per line.
For the list and URL options, the import preview lets you skip closed profiles and skip 1st, 2nd or 3rd+ degree connections, and set a Max Import (1 to 500). If some leads already exist in another campaign, Import Duplicates moves them here and sets them to Warmup. Leads already in this campaign are not imported again.
You can also add leads from Prospecting, then Lead Database: select leads, choose Add to Campaign, pick the campaign and the stage.
What happens next
New leads start in Warmup. From there the campaign drafts a first message, you review it and it is scheduled and sent. See Review, schedule and send messages.
Change a campaign later
On the campaign board, click Edit Campaign to change its details, AI model, converted-stage title or link tracking. Click Playbook to edit how messages are written.
